Microsoft: confirmed the performance issues of NVM, SSD

In previous publication We reported that Windows 11 affects the speed of storage drives (NVM, SSD, and HDD). Microsoft today confirmed the reports.

Not everyone is affected by these issues, but some users have found that Windows 11 slows down the performance of hard drives significantly, unlike November 2021 Update of Windows 10.nvme

Not only do they make computers slower in terms of, but some also noticed that the storage drives have slower I/O operations per second. Additionally, there is another bug that could slow down disk read and write speeds in Windows 11.

If you are affected, Windows 11 will run slightly slower than before. In rare cases, Windows 11 could reduce the burning speed of discs by up to 45%, and the new Microsoft system cannot load applications or quickly open folders.

The issue has been reported on the Feedback Hub, Twitter, Reddit, and the Microsoft Answers forum. But according to sources close to the development, Microsoft is investigating the issue and has already released a fix through Windows . However is currently optional.

In a support document Posted on November 22, Microsoft acknowledged the problem, which was first detected in August, and began testing a fix with the optional update KB5007262.

Microsoft executives have confirmed that the error affects the performance of all disks (NVMe, SSDAnd HDD).

Windows 11 performance issue occurs when a feature called “NTFS USN journal” is enabled. In Windows 11, this feature is enabled only on the C: drive by default and so the rest of the partitions or drives are not affected.

From the number of reports, it appears that the error is not widespread and this could be due to the slow adoption of the new operating system.

Microsoft does not (yet) impose Windows 11 on users as it did when Windows 10 was announced in 2015. Windows 11 remains optional and currently runs on a small percentage of computers.

Those who use them and have performance issues should expect the optional update to be included in the security updates that will be released on Tuesday, December 14th. If you think your device is slower than before, it is recommended that you install the optional update (KB5007262).
