Here we go again: Microsoft released new Intel microcode updates in Windows 10 that replace or update previous updates for its variants Specter.
Updates are available for Windows 10 in versions 1803, 1709, 1703, 1607 and 1507. Currently available only through Microsoft Update Catalogue.
Updates KB4346084, KB4346085, KB4346086, KB4346087, KB4346087, KB4346087, KB4346087 and KB4346088 protect against various attacks that target vulnerabilities in Intel processors and affect most of them.
Tip: If you want to know if your computer is affected you can test your Intel processor with the free tool InSpectre for Windows.
Microsoft says for updates:
Intel recently announced that it has completed its validations and started making microcode available for its latest CPUs that protect against Specter Variant 3a (CVE-2018-3640: “RSRE)”, Specter Variant 4 (CVE-2018-3639: “Storage stores bypass (SSB)”), L1TF (CVE-2018-3615, CVE-2018-3646: “L1 Terminal Fault”).
In short, the updated news version adds protection for Specter variants 3a and 4 and includes previous updates released by Intel and Microsoft.
The updates are standalone for Windows 10, and the fixes work directly (protect directly) on the systems of those concerned. Those of you who are thinking of updating the update links are below:
