Slackware is one of the oldest Linux distributions, and version 15.0 was released yesterday. The fact is important as the latest version of the distribution (14.2) was released in 2016.
According to notes of the new version, the spirit of this release is: "Keep it familiar, but make it modern."
This release brings kernel 5.15.19, and updated PAM, PipeWire and PulseAudio packages. Wayland and X11 graphics systems, as well as the languages Rust and Python 3. San graphical environments, features Xfce 4.16 and the latest Plasma 5 (Plasma 5.23.5, Frameworks 5.90, KDE apps 21.12 running Qt 5.15.3). DE Cinnamon and Mate are also available from third parties. The main compilers are gcc-11.2 and llvm 13.0. The default program browsing it is firefox 91.5 esr. You will not find…. not at all …..systemd.
