The official announcement will take place on the World Oceans Day on June 8.
The new project of Street View presents the first fruits of the cowork τεσσάρων χρόνων μεταξύ της Google και της XL Catlin Seaview Survey, Office of NOAA National Marine Sanctuaries and the Chagos Conservation Trust.

The company says:

Using GPS, Google marks photos so we can create a timeline with images that will depict the collapse of underwater ecosystems.
This does not mean you will not see beautiful submarine landscapes that most of us would normally never see.
