H TobyRich, is a German company specializing in smartphone-controlled gadgets. The company introduced its SmartPlane, which it calls “the first airplane controlled by smartphone in the world."
The airplane is made of expanded polypropylene and is quite durable and lightweight. The lithium polymer battery that fills the aircraft is also extremely light, adding just 1 g to the weight of the plane. TobyRich reports that the battery provides more than five minutes of flight with the accelerator. Charge the battery with a microUSB cable and lasts approximately 15 minutes.
SmartPlane connects to iOS devices via Bluetooth Smart (or Bluetooth Low energy), whose range reaches 60 meters. The plane can only be connected to one device at a time, and a white LED on the plane shows the connection status.
The plane's firmware is automatically updated over the air to ensure it's always up to date version even if it's in the car.
The SmartPlane it retails for 69 euros with free shipping within Germany only. Buyers from Europe they should calculate at least 12 more. THE application for SmartPlane is available for free from the App Store.
