Microsoft yesterday released the cumulative update KB4490481 for Windows 10 for devices running version 1809, which is the latest for regular computers.
The version became available only one day after it was shipped by the company, inside the Preview Release ring. The update is available exclusively for Windows 10 version 1809, which is also referred to as the "October 2018 Update", and increases the operating system creation number to 17763.404.
The list of changes (changelog) contained in KB4490481 is huge and you can see it at English language, from here.
However, it's worth noting that this update fixes an issue that has affected PCs with multiple devices sound. This is a error recognized by Microsoft in previous cumulative updates.
We read in the Changelog: “The applications που παρέχουν προηγμένες επιλογές για εσωτερικές ή εξωτερικές συσκευές εξόδου ήχου, ενδέχεται να σταματήσουν απροσδόκητα να λειτουργούν. Αυτό το ζήτημα παρουσιάζεται για χρήστες που επιλέγουν μια device audio output device other than “Default Audio Device”. Examples of applications that may stop working include Windows Media Player, Realtek HD Audio Manager, and Sound Blaster Control Panel”.
In addition, Microsoft reports that it has fixed an error that caused the Start menu layout to reset after upgrading to Windows 10 version 1809. In October 10, the "Start" menu lost its settings, so this cumulative update tackles this unexpected behavior.
At the time of writing, there are no reports of failed installations and everything went smoothly on our devices, here at iguru.
