Cumulative version KB4490481 for Windows 10 / 1809 is available

Microsoft yesterday released the cumulative update KB4490481 of for devices running version 1809, which is the latest for regular computers.

The version became available only one day after by the company, inside the Preview Release ring. The update is available exclusively for Windows 10 version 1809, which is also referred to as the "October 2018 Update", and increases the operating system creation number to 17763.404.

The list of changes (changelog) contained in KB4490481 is huge and you can see it at English language, from here.

However, it is worth noting that this update fixes an issue that has affected computers with multiple audio devices. This is an error recognized by Microsoft in previous cumulative updates.

We read in the Changelog: “Applications that provide advanced options for internal or external audio output devices may stop working unexpectedly. This issue occurs for users who select an audio output device other than “Default Audio Device”. Examples of applications that may stop working include Windows Media Player, Realtek HD Audio Manager, and Sound Control Panel”.

Additionally, Microsoft says it has resolved a bug that caused its layout to reset “Start”, after upgrading to Windows 10 version 1809. In other words, after upgrading from an older version of Windows 10 to version 1809 in October 2018, the “Start” menu lost its settings, so this cumulative updated version addresses this unexpected behavior.

At the time of writing, there are no reports of failed installations and everything went smoothly on our devices, here at iguru.
