Windows 7; Microsoft made two important announcements today at Microsoft 365 blog. The company seems to be changing support times for Windows 7 and Windows 10 operating systems under certain conditions.
Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President for Office and Windows Marketing, has revealed that companies can extend the Windows 7 operating system support period by three years and that Enterprise and Education versions of Windows 10 may change to extend support in 30 months.
Support for Windows 7 will expire on 14 January of 2020, which means that Microsoft will not release security updates from this day on.
Corporate customers can choose to extend the period for three additional years to secure support by January of 2023.
This option will be available to all users of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise in Volume Licensing” and customers with “warranty software of Windows, Windows 10 Enterprise or Windows 10 Education subscriptions” will have extended support period discounts sold per device.
Spataro reported that the Office 365 ProPlus will continue to be supported on devices with Windows 7 Extended Updates Security (ESU) programs.
Users using Windows 7 Home devices can not have extensive support.
The second change announced by Spataro is valid for customers of Enterprise and Education versions of Microsoft Windows 10.
The change extends the support period to specific versions of Windows 10 in some cases up to 30 months. The default support period was up to 18 months for all versions but for long-term service releases.
So:
- Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions will be supported for 30 months if the version-στόχος είναι η δεύτερη information characteristics of the year (September/October period).
